After a challenging round at spectacular Barnbougle Dunes Golf Course we meandered on towards Launceston, Historic Hatherley House awaited us, what a wonderful treat. Old fashioned elegance and grace fused with fabulous luxurious ‘mod cons’ were a perfect mix. It struck me as a quiet and private oasis.
We stayed in the Ballroom Suite, its dance theme features a magnificent modern mural. There was plenty of room to dance if the spirit moved you. After a well earned spa, we enjoyed the mountain views with a drink on the balcony before strolling into the city for dinner. The area is known as Launceston’s Rose Bowl and it’s easy to see why. The historic gardens and leafy parks were bursting with colour. Delicious Tassie food and wine were plentiful, everything from quirky cafes to innovative 5 star dining. ‘Pierre’s’ on George St was our pick from many great looking choices.
After our stay we were sorry to be leaving Hatherley, it had charmed us with it’s art, architecture and comfort. In a word superb. We’ll be back.
